Town Named Anita After Beason Family In 1869 Cass County
In Cass county the settlement planned by Lewis Beason in 1869 was nearly named Beason until Mrs. Beason suggested Anita to honor her niece Anita Cowles in San Francisco. The Spanish name means Little Anna. Rail officials debated a station name during a 1869 dinner at the Benson stage stop, ultimately choosing Anita. Beason platted the town that year and sold interests in 1870 to Franklin Whitney, B F Allen, and John P Cook of Atlantic. Edwin Cate opened the first store in 1869 and the first school shared a building with a church and public meeting space.

Heated Winter Storage Really Adds Value at Home
The Institute of Home Designers notes heated space saves equipment from deterioration in cold months. In New York warehouses, a square foot costs about fifty cents monthly, and a typical family could pay up to fifty dollars monthly for basement storage. An accessible heated area with a separate basement exit helps move patio furniture bicycles and gear indoors to avoid winter damage.
