Market outlook for hogs shows improvement
Iowa State University farm economist Francis Kutish says the hog market has improved after a winter decline. He notes mid May receipts fell and terminal markets rose faster than interior, with this summer’s hog supply not larger than last year and prices likely higher into July and August though not as strong as last summer. He cautions larger sow farrowings could push prices down this fall and stresses a slight cut in the 1963 summer fall pig crop may be needed next winter.
