Two Truck Drivers Escape Injury as Bridge Collapses
In Muscatine Iowa two drivers narrowly escaped when the 160 foot span of the Muscatine toll bridge collapsed into the Mississippi River. William Wheatcraft of Mansfield Ohio crawled out of his trailer and was rescued after the sunken span pulled his rig down. Haynes stalled on the upright bridge section as rescue crews extracted Wheatcraft.

Four Killed In Bomber Crash Near Lowry Air Force Base

Accident Claims Fourth Victim Near Dakota City
Four were injured in a crash on Highway 3 when a car failed to negotiate a curve and struck a utility pole then rolled over. Charles Lo Campbell 27 of Deloit died from head injuries at Lutheran Hospital. Campbell's father Sabine 57 and brother Leonard 18 were killed at the scene.
