The Parker Company carnival set to open in mid June in Chattanooga will draw crowds with a record attendance forecast. City merchants backed by the Commercial Club contracted Parker to provide attractions for the event, with heralds and banners planned to advertise the week long show. The Chattanooga Times praises the Parker show for its music, beauty, and crowd appeal, noting expected attendance growth if it stays longer. Forsyth of Griswold visited Chattanooga today on business and social calls.
Campaigners work today as state wide primary nears. Atlantic polls open 7am to 8pm while other precincts run 9am to 8pm. Weather may boost turnout among farmers. Polling places include Occidental Hotel South Room Second Ward McNierney Chestnut Third Ward County Court House Grand Jury Fourth Ward Bradbury’s Feed Store Fifth and Walnut.
Five of her friends staged a last evening surprise for Miss Grace a social entertainment gathering on Seventh Street. The event marked her birthday and was described as very pleasant with friends in attendance.
An executive committee and subcommittees organize a June Atlantic Run with plans for a 3 day circuit through Lewis, Griswold, Elk Horn, Kimballton, Audubon, Atlantic, Anita, Adair, Massena, Cumberland, Grant and back to Atlantic. A band will accompany the party, pennants will be provided, and about 75 cars are expected to participate. The group will meet again to finalize routes, speakers, and entertainment for the trip.
Complete prize list for the July 3rd and 4th firemen’s parade events is published. Automobile Parade offers top prizes of 60, 40, 30, 80 and 10 dollars with merchandise prizes from merchants. Children’s parade classes offer prizes up to 10 dollars for ages 8 to 12 and smaller prizes for under eight. Committees include G Jeck John Blake W J Pellett E Bradley and Mrs C L Campbell Mrs C G Warner Mrs Carl Hoffman Mrs Dale Morrow and Mrs B Crawford.
Forty years ago today Con Enright arrived in Atlantic after a Rock Island transfer to Adair. He built six homes now all occupied and ran cement walks for over a decade. A long time Modern Woodmen member and Royal Neighbor, he is one of the town’s oldest active residents with many friends wishing him continued health and prosperity.
Ernest Hill travels to Elliott to visit his wife and daughter and will be away Sunday night. Maude Conrad leaves for Ottumwa to visit her brother Frank then Chicago to make her home. Theodore Nichola departs for Tucker Utah to work with the Forestry Department this summer. A L Deeds returns from Chicago after a buying trip for Leader store. Katherine Nebe visits from Washington for a week with her brother F M Nebe. Mrs O W Brown goes to Chicago to visit her son Roscoe. Roy Worth heads to Chicago after visiting his mother. Agnes Collins travels to Marshalltown for several days. Mrs E W Holmes of Anita visits her daughter Mrs BR J Cornell in the city. Chas Hoepner of Fontanelle attends to business here.

Weather forecast for Iowa calls for likely fair tonight and Sunday with warmer Sunday.
Mr and Mrs T W Acker of the countryside announce the marriage of their daughter Miss Abbie to Clyde J Kitchen on Wednesday June 12 at two oclock The couple are well known locally Miss Acker has long been a successful rural teacher and is described as accomplished Mr Kitchen is a farmer from near Wiota and the pair plan to reside on a farm near Wiota
The dress making department recently added to the Oransky store is doing splendidly. It is well equipped and handling the incoming workload with strong performance.
The Merchants Greys will play a baseball game against Extra tomorrow afternoon at the local ball park. Extra is said to have a strong team this year and two good games are expected. The Greys are in good form this season and deserve strong support. Come out for a solid contest.
Ella Whitney and others transfer property to Elizabeth Vaughn on 27 12 12 for lot 2 block 103 at Atlantic priced at $1 in a May 29 1912 real estate listing.
Lieut Governor Clarke spoke in the city on the primary idea praising the concept while noting the heavy campaign costs it imposes on candidates, especially state candidates. He argued the primary is solid for voters but demanding for organizers and office seekers. Local hospital ops were reported, along with a new baby boy born to Mr and Mrs Chas Marshall. A memorial service by Woodmen and Royal Neighbors is planned at the Congregational church with Rev Spelman delivering the address.
Mrs. Elmer Perlett, recently operated on, was allowed to go home yesterday from the hospital. The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Wrank Larson is reported ill at their residence.
The Watson building on Fourth Street will be 75 feet long and 25 feet wide with two stories. D J Laurenson has the contract for construction after wrecking the old structure. The brick edifice will include 5 office suites on the lower floor and a photo gallery on the upper floor, with a basement. Conley and Gaylord will have a storage room behind their shop. Building activity is rising. Atlantic has the improvement and the city expects strong rental demand once finished.
Dr. F. W. Porterfield and his wife left the city early today for Waterloo where he has established a practice. Household goods departed yesterday. They carry the good wishes of many friends for happiness and health in their new home.
Members of the W. R. C. were entertained by Mrs. A. Day with lunch at 805 Cedar Street yesterday. The gathering was one of two monthly sessions dedicated to charity for the fair, highlighting their unpaid work to help those in need.
A horse kicked A M Kirk known as Bert Kirk while hitching the animal yesterday. The horse was not deemed dangerous but Kirk was struck on the head and face. Dr Campbell treated him. he was taken to hospital and later sent home. The injuries are painful but not expected to be serious.
Thirty young ladies attended the Morning Music Club breakfast at eleven in the morning. Tables were rose-decorated and a three course menu pleased guests. The event closed the year’s work of the club with no meeting until fall.
