In the United States District Court of the Southern District of Iowa, Western Division, the 15th day of January 1921 orders February 18, 1921 as the date before which creditors and interested parties may oppose the discharge in bankruptcy of Grover C. Detroit January 18 A Treasury ruling in Washington holds that manufacturers of home brew beer incur a $1000 penalty even without sale or consumption evidence. John A Grogan Eastern Michigan district collector says manufacture makes Detroiter liable under section 35 of the national prohibition acts. The penalty is akin to a delinquent tax charge, not a criminal fine.

In Marion Ohio on January 18 robbers broke into the North Bloomfield Banking Company at North Bloomfield, twelve miles from Marion, rifling forty five of fifty safety deposit boxes and stealing Liberty bonds and thrift stamps estimated at $25,000.

A January cloudburst in Palolo valley near Honolulu caused damage estimated at 260000 by city officials. Several small suburban houses were swept away and four people reportedly drowned. Bridges on the Oahu railway were demolished and rural highways blocked. The Royal Grove area of Waikiki flooded leaving mud on streets and lawns while public utilities functioned.
A Dallas fire near January first reports unknown origin destroying three stores along with offices and apartments. Estimated loss runs to seventy five thousand dollars. Radiators com heat prompt response and adaptation noted in initial assessment.
