A 13 year old climber, Richard Powell of Apple Valley, became stuck 40 feet up a fork like rock formation near Victorville California. Sheriff’s Captain James B. Miller said Richard slid into a crevice while crawling up an escarpment. Deputy Freeman Lewis lassoed the rock above him and climbed up to pull him free. The rescuer then lowered a second line and hoisted the boy to safety.
