Des Moines Jan 11 A bill allowing county treasurers to retain auto tax funds in county treasuries was referred to a special committee. Funds totaling about 4 million must be remitted to the state treasurer by January. Senate names Holdoegel Hale Dutcher Frailey Parker Thompson Campbell Pitt and Buser as panelists. The measure received urgent consideration in the assembly. Reid notes assembly impressions of members. A code revision committee recommends limiting general bill introductions to February 14 and allowing some of 253 drafted bills later. A special session for remaining measures appears likely. Senate action also includes a unanimous passage relieving state printing tieup.

DES MOINES Jan 11 Illinois plans to establish state parks along the Mississippi and may pursue interstate parks with Iowa and Missouri. Professor Henry C Cowles of the University of Chicago told the national conference that southern Illinois holds rugged scenery and pioneer sites, urging parks of about 1000 acres or more.
