An old advertisement extols Vindicine as a tonic for overworked nervous exhausted women. It claims improved appetite, digestion, sleep, and energy. Testimonies from Narragansett Pier and others describe relief from run-down, weak, and anxious conditions after taking Vindicine.
A Griswold native, C. H. Thomson, son of Mrs. John Thomson, serves as a missionary in Mahoba India where famine and influenza have caused a high death rate. In a letter dated Oct 23, he notes daily deaths from thirty to eighty as undernourishment and health decline affect the town of about 11 000 people.

Des Moines report says Spanish influenza has virtually disappeared in Iowa despite cold and heavy snow, according to Dr. G. H. Sumner secretary of the state board of health.

Death claimed two locals near Walnut in recent days Mrs. Theodora Austine 71 died at her son Elmer Austine’s home northeast of Walnut. Funeral services were held at the son’s residence. Bernhardt Mamanny 37 a Monroe township farmer had recently returned from an Omaha hospital and was brought home before his death. He remained at Lims oges awaiting transport from Hor deaux, with delays caused by crowded shipping conditions.
Des Moines reports Colonel B R Bennett formerly commander of the 168th Infantry Rainbow division still remains in France. The officer had expected to sail in time to reach New York last Sunday.
