Thirty five years ago today February 27 1883 Iowa saw a mild spell after three months of sleighing and several cold snaps. The Atlantic water works test produced six water streams of varying diameters including a two and a quarter inch jet at 6th and Chestnut witnessed by townsfolk. A young people meeting at the Presbyterian church featured Dr Emmert and E M Boorman leading exercises. Manager Bacon announced a grand masquerade on roller skates set for March 15.
