Winter workers from California seek jobs. A free trade club forms with J M Emmert as president. Mrs W A Calvey, daughter of Judge Temple and wife of Atlantic, is gravely ill at Altoona Dakota.
Thieves struck the Congregational church at Shenandoah taking 108 silver knives and forks, plus church linen and basement plumbing supplies. Earlier a Baptist church was entered and a coffee urn and cooking utensils were stolen.
Farmers in Mills county strongly favor a road program to build hard surfaced highways. At Malvern a vote of 150 to 10 supported hard roads after a talk by a state highway commission member. The meeting, called by the county agent, drew farmers from across Mills county for discussion. Notice from Atlantic city authorities invites paving desires within ten days.
Four Mrs Nortons in Omaha have filed for divorce from four Mr Nortons in seven weeks. Nellie A Norton wed Nathan M in Blair August 26 1917. Piccola K Norton wed John L in Omaha February 16 1916. Bessie wed John F in Lincoln September 11 1918. Emma A wed John M in Des Moines April 21 1913.
Miss Elsie M. Smith and Carl H. Garside, both of Massena, wed Wednesday in Creston with Rev. Elias Handy officiating. Attendants were George B. Garside and wife, parents of the groom, and Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Davia. The bride is the daughter of Jas. W. Smith and wife of Massena.
