Two large timber wolves were captured on W. J. Noble’s farm three miles north of Vinton Iowa. Trapped by an old trapper’s device, the wolves yielded finer pelts and a $20 bounty was paid for each wolf received by Noble.

Washington Feb 7 The State Department plans a secret ruling on sailing of American ships and the liner St Louis will not receive convoy Secretary of the Navy Daniels designated as official censor Charles Belknap Jr to suppress publication of naval movements during the crisis and prevent details reaching the public.
Funeral services for the infant son of Mr and Mrs Frank Nebe were held at their residence at Sixth and Linn streets at 10:80 this morning. Rev Elias Handy of the Methodist Church conducted the services. Interment followed in Atlantic Cemetery.
The body of Dr. John L. Pollock formerly of Wiota and later of Hanley Falls Minn was found frozen to death after going out on a call and being missing for two days His parents Otis Roa and his wife learned of the death in Albia where the funeral will be held He is survived by his wife his parents and two brothers Dr D K Pollock formerly of Albia now in Minneapolis and another brother in Albia Pollock was well known in Wiota where he practiced for a time
Ta Feb 7 Rev Paul Smith San Francisco pastor noted as a former Iowan county boy and son of Rev W T Smith long time pastor at Ames. He studied at Town State College in Ames before moving west and graduating from a theological school as part of publicized anti vice campaign.
United Press reports from Sioux City on February 7 show lawyers for Democrat Tom Steele resuming a full vote recount in the Steele contest against Republican George Seis. In the second precinct 70 votes counted for Steele were actually for Dilley. Earlier recounts indicated 100 Steele votes were tallied for Scott in the first recount.
The Iowa League of Municipalities backs home rule bills introduced in the House by Rep Kimberly of Davenport. The measure grants city councils authority to exercise local self government powers subject to defined restraints and powers now or to be established by law.
