C A Malone a former Cras county boy son of Postmaster T L Malone of Wiota and well known here has forged to the front since locating in Ashland Oregon where he is a captain of the coast artillery of the state troops. Malone who served some time in the navy is a member of the governor staff and accompanied the governor to the San Francisco exposition and helped dedicate a new armory at Medford. He is to leave Ashland as the Ashland Electric Power and Light Co has leased its equipment to the city for three years and will close its offices and drop a local manager. Malone will likely become manager of a large California Oregon power firm and has many Ashland friends. His wife was Miss Willama of Neola.
Omaha plans a large auto show February 21 to 26 featuring 153 pleasure cars from 61 manufacturers 26 commercial cars from 19 firms and a balcony full of motorcycles. Exhibitors are up and the display promises a wide range of autos including racing cars from the east.
Walter Kunze returned home Thursday after a week visiting relatives in Nebraska. Ed Brown underwent an appendectomy Tuesday and is recovering well. Miss Gladyg Adama visited her uncle Fred Adama in Cumberland. Miss Mabel Auxier visited cousin Wm Willoughby and wife, while Mia Enfield enjoyed time with sister. Several local entries note visits and social calls among residents including Jake Adame Frank Roberta Levi Enfield and Wm Willoughby.
Lee Van Nice, pitcher for the Merchants Greys last summer, is among two men scheduled to wrestle a handicap match. The event pits Van Nice against an unnamed opponent in a program tied to the team’s forthcoming matchup.
