AAA Committeemen to Discuss 1944 Plans Thursday
Cass county township committeemen will hold an all day meeting at the Triple-A office Thursday to outline 1944 production goals soil building practices and tractor gas application handling. Jack Mc Laughlin Winterset district field man will lead the session which starts at 9 30 in the morning. Later township meetings will explain the 1944 program and tractor gas applications. Engine Foreman Killed in Fall Near Arion Dow City
Claude Lewis of Council Bluffs road foreman of engines for the North Western railroad was killed when knocked from a locomotive into the Boyer river while riding the catwalk. His body was recovered between Arion and Dow City. He left a widow two daughters Elaine Lewis and Mrs. Jack Brett and a son Jack Lewis an air cadet. The body went to Council Bluffs for funeral services. A new employee, Mrs Paul Fett, starts at the Robinson hardware store in Atlantic.

Boy, 14, Dies After Horse Kicks Face in Iowa Pasture
William Carl Adams of Lewis, aged 14, died from skull and jaw fractures after a horse kicked him while trying to catch a pony in the pasture at his grandparents home eight miles southwest of Atlantic. Born October 8, 1929 in Pymosa township, he had lived with grandparents since infancy and was a freshman at Lewis Consolidated School. Surviving relatives include his mother Mrs. Herbert Trede of Blairsburg Jr, a brother John, five uncles and three aunts. Funeral arrangements are pending with Roland Peacock Baxter funeral home.

Benefit concert planned for Cla rinda POW enlistees at Atlantic High
A benefit performance for enlisted men on duty at the Clarinda prisoner of war camp will be held at Atlantic High School auditorium Wednesday evening next week. Lieuts Nash and Speery of the Clarinda camp visited Atlantic to arrange the program. Talent from the camp and radio station KMA will perform. Proceeds fund sports equipment a reading room and other entertainment for the men as there are no recreational facilities at the camp. Similar benefits are planned in other southwest towns.
