Examination begins at 2 p.m. and ordination at 8 p.m.

The consolidated Lewis School opened today with 9 to 11 a m registration. Darrel Slocum begins his fifth year teaching several classes. Principal Mrs Ethel Barnard returns to lead math and English. New high school teachers include Mrs Preston Ada Hook and Albin Huster among others. Bus drivers and custodial staff are listed and the board notes the building is in good shape for the new year.
Des Moines reports a new all time high of 1128 illegitimate births in Iowa for 1947. The state health department noted 1053 in 1946 and 767 in 1939 as prior figures.
