Tennis Meet Entries Sought for Cass County Tourney

City tennis tournament at Sunnyside Park from August 13 to 21 welcomes Cass County residents. Entry at Moore's Jewelry or Fowler's Hatchery with 50 cent fee. Doctor Drives Racer To 228 MPH At Bonneville

Los Angeles physician Dr. Nathan Ostich piloted the jet powered speedster "Flying Caduceus" over Bonneville Salt Flats reaching 228 miles per hour amid gusty winds and light rain. He planned further runs after postponing to Friday. Ostich’s craft was a 6,930 horsepower needle-nosed racer as he aimed for higher speeds in preparatory trials.

NE Iowa Trout Fishing Buoyed by Rainfall

Des Moines AP reports trout fishing in northeast Iowa improves with heavy rains though some areas see limited success due to canal and drain conditions. Across the region anglers find activity in various rivers and lakes with catfish panfish and bass also being caught.
