Westinghouse workers split between CIO and UE unions

The CIO Electric Workers Union won representation of about 28,187 Westinghouse employees in 20 plants, while the Independent United Electrical Workers secured 14,682 in 20 plants. National totals show 27,281 for CIO UE and 22,817 for UE. Other unions received 1,317 votes with 836 opposing. Three big locals are excluded due to close votes and challenged ballots. The contest followed CIO’s claim of Communist dominance and a six month dispute.

Tractor Mishap Fatal Near Oskaloosa
