Iowa official criticism over university politics

Iowa City Senator D C Nolan attacked University of Iowa Athletic Director Forest Evashevski and aide Bob Flora accusing them of partisan political activity while maintaining they worked on personal time and not on university time. Iowa to Use Light From Atomic Plant Des Moines

An atomic power plant near Sioux Falls will supply light to Iowa homes. Iowa Power and Light Co. joins nine Midwest utilities in research at the plant. A. Paul Thompson says the concept moves nuclear generation closer to competitive with conventional power. The plant is owned by Northern States Power Co and commercial operation is expected next December.

CYO Meeting in Anita Sunday Plans Talk on Leadership

May Turn Nuclear Plants Into Electric Power Installations

The Atomic Energy Commission sees converting shut reactors from plutonium work into civilian power plants as technically feasible. Utilities are invited to study the economic and engineering issues. Two reactors from Hanford Washington and Savannah River South Carolina could deliver hundreds of megawatts for peaceful use.
