Newlin pitched a no hit no run 17 to 0 victory over Adair to open Atlantic season.

Jobs for 1,064 veterans in Iowa March

The United States employment service placed 1,064 war veterans in Iowa during March. State director George D. Haskell reported 65 percent were veterans of the current war. Major placements occurred in Des Moines 255 Waterloo 164 Sioux City 100 Council Bluffs 68. Non agricultural local placements totaled 10,957 with 1,492 placed outside home areas, bringing March total to 12,449. Service offices aided 48,072 visitors that month.
