Leland Kirk resigns as town clerk effective April 30 after five years in office. Kenneth Hansen will assume duties May 1. Mr and Mrs Kirk and their daughter plan to move to Washington in June.
The spring meeting of the South west Iowa Dental Society and Auxiliary was held at the Atlantic Golf and Country Club with sixty attendees. A noon luncheon preceded a business session hosted by Atlantic dentists and their wives. Guests included Mrs J M Uynch Des Moines president of the Iowa Dental Society Auxiliary, Mrs Frank True also of Des Moines past Auxiliary president, and Dr and Mrs Harry Wilson of Des Moines.

Eli Wesley Huff, 73, Cedar Rapids, was held by police on a theft charge after allegedly stealing a billfold containing 4100 dollars from his brother John, 7. Huff reportedly took a lie detector test on Sunday.
The suspect admitted taking the billfold and guided investigators to a shed behind his residence where $3115 was recovered. The money had been stolen from the John Huff home last December.
