Atlantic Youth Sought After Escape From Eldora School
Cass county sheriff officials say two inmates fled the State training school at Eldor with one Atlantic youth believed to be 17 year old Dennis Schaaf. The pair allegedly stole a school's employee car and ditched it near the 65 57 junction west of Eldora while two other youths were found on the grounds.

Tornado Strikes Yorktown Area Causes Damage
A Sunday tornado damaged Yorktown northwest of Clarinda. A Yorktown Savings Bank check dated Dec 1 1920 blown about 50 miles was found on Atlantic farmer Otto Dreager’s driveway. The storm damaged the James Carmack farm near Massena and lifted 160 rods of fence, leaving only corner posts.

In Aylesbury England Judge Edmund Davies sentenced 12 men to prison terms up to 30 years for taking part in Britain's great train robbery. Seven received 36 years, two 25 years, one 24, one 20, and one 3 years for the Glasgow to London mail train raid on August 8 that netted about 2.6 million pounds.

Mail Train Robbery Suspect Masters Theft Over Large Sum
A gang of about 15 halted a mail train with a false red signal and overpowered clerks in the money car. Police recovered only about 300,000 pounds and believe 3 or 4 men, still at large, masterminded the theft and hid the rest.
