TIFFIN Ohio AP. C A Krout of Tiffin recently observed his 100th birthday and recalled teaching in Iowa in 1879. At 17 he traveled from Ohio to Hedrick Keokuk County to teach and husked corn for a month while waiting for the term to start. He later returned to Ohio, finished high school and earned a degree at what is now Wittenberg University. He became superintendent of Tiffin schools in 1890 and retired in 1931.
