About 700 Congregationalists from Iowa will attend the state conference in Sioux City May 17 to 19. Delegates from 285 churches are invited to participate in the event hosted at local Congregational facilities.
Lisbon April 13 reports ongoing attempts to murder judges and members of the Tribunal of Public Defense. Several court members have been killed or wounded, including Dr Ferreira de Sousa who was shot three times at his garden gate. a bullet damaged only his pocketbook and fountain pen. Police link attacks to the Young Syndicalist Association. Dr Ramon Preto, former cabinet member and author of the tribunal law, received a death threat signed by The Red Committee.
