The Demon Yachtsman Archibald Grant and the Monte Carlo Gamble
An unnamed narrator recounts meeting Archibald Grant in the Hermitage lounge in Monte Carlo on Christmas Eve. Grant wins vast sums at roulette, then sails aboard a yacht the narrator later learns is used for piracy. The voyage ends with a dramatic clash with a Furness liner and Grant’s eventual disappearance, leaving the narrator wary of Grant’s true identity.
