Robbery of Tolono Mail Pouch Reveals Large Loss
Chicago officials report a mail pouch stolen near Tolono contained between 25 000 and 50 000 in express and post office orders. The bag was found in a cornfield by a farmer boy two miles south of Tolono. Investigators say the theft occurred on a depot platform during mail transfer. About 10 000 of the orders were cashed in Chicago and other cities. The pouch, stolen September 9, wasn’t found until October 2 and contained 2 000 letters. Authorities vow to pursue those responsible.

Aeroplane Takes a Fall at College Park

Fall Proves Fatal At Savery Hotel Elevator Shaft
Rosenthal, a Cass & Rosenthal Tailoring representative from New York, fell headfirst from the third floor elevator shaft at the Savery hotel in Des Moines. SHERIFF NABS GLEN MAXWELL IN IOWA CHASE
Glen Maxwell, a twenty year prisoner who escaped from the Anamosa penitentiary, was captured by Sheriff Hamilton in Carron Iowa after a wild pursuit. He stepped from a Northwestern train and was recognized by traveling man G H Hambleton of Ames. A revolver and cartridges were found on him and a discarded package held a black mask and overalls. Maxwell had been sentenced a year ago to twenty years from Story county.
