Kellogg defends ties to steel and oil probes in Congress
Frank B. Kellogg, special counsel in theStandard Oil prosecutions, testified before the Stanley steel trust investigating committee that he had long served as counsel for U S Steel subsidiary lines in Minnesota and refused to apologize. He said fees were approved by steel officials in 1907 and that his work for the government on Standard Oil and others occupied him since then. The committee signaled possible summons for former President Roosevelt and J Pierpont Morgan to uncover how railroads owned by the steel trust paid large dividends amid small capitalization.
