Dorothy awaken in a magical land after a house lands on the Wicked Witch of the East. She teams with a Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and a Cowardly Lion on the road to the Emerald City to meet the Wizard and return home. They face dangers like poppy fields and river perils, aided by a stork rescue.
Dorothy awakens to thousands of mice gathering around her. The Scarecrow and Tin Woodman devise a plan to move the sleeping Cowardly Lion from a poppy bed using a tree trunk wagon pulled by the mice. After a successful rescue, Dorothy praises the mice and the group rests with the Lion recovering, while the Queen promises aid if ever needed.
Dorothy and companions leave the forest and approach the emerald painted land of Oz. The Lion, still cautious, joins Dorothy at a green farmhouse where a wary couple offers supper and lodging as they discuss Oz the Wizard. The group learns Oz’s power to grant brains heart and courage, and Dorothy’s wish to return Kansas remains unresolved.
