Major League Notes on Baseball Figures and Performances
New York critics say pitcher Dubuc of the Reds could improve with proper coaching. The Giants race to slug, while sacrifice hitting is seen as a lost art. The Tigers lead the league with three .300+ hitters. Cubs learn the Phillies’ win in the West came from class, not a streak. Umpire Firesim mons was escorted from the field in Montgomery. Spencer of the Browns is praised for accurate throwing. Roy Thomas proves gamest by playing five days with a rib fracture. Clarke Griffith calls Stone the Browns’ most valuable AL player. Wagner tops the NL with 19 doubles 12 triples eight homers 108 total bases. Cobb totals 97.
