Buffalo Texas, August 3. After shootout with officers, FL Hummell mortally wounds two African American men and is fatally shot when he refuses to surrender. The incident ends with multiple fatalities.
Lorient France August 3 Lieutenant Cros of the French army was tested in a new military aeroplane when a squall struck. He was dashed to the ground and severely injured.
Louisville, Aug 3. Quarantina was laid on Kentucky sheep by U S Secretary of Agriculture James A Wilson due to an epidemic of scabies reported from several points in the state.
Reports from Guerrero state indicate Friday and Saturday earthquakes caused greater destruction than feared. Acapulco and Chilpancingo are reportedly destroyed or uninhabitable. In Canton Ohio on August 3 Mrs Panilla killed her husband Tony Panilla and Mrs Clara Pizzani during a failed elopement. Panilla stabbed Pizzani 30 times amid a struggle. Pizzani tried to call police but Panilla overpowered her. Panilla surrendered claiming jealousy over seeing Panilla with Piggani.
A white man George Johnson who killed farmer John W Moore near Platte City Missouri on June 20 was lynched by a mob after being moved for safety to Kansas City. He was taken to a tree by the jail and strung up, with his body left hanging until 6 30 am. A Chicago woman Helen Bauer aged 20 from Chicago climbed Mont Blanc, Geneva report says.
New York August 3 Judge Hand granted the American Sugar Refining Company and its officials additional time to plead to the federal indictment.
Wilbur Wright will return to Washington early next week to instruct Lieuts Lahm and Fouliss of the signal corps in the manipulation of the Wright aeroplane purchased for the signal corps.
Des Moines reported Omaha police arrested seven in the act of robbing a South Omaha man during a raid on 1204 Cherry Street. Myrtle Parker Harry Parker and Sol Davis linked to a highway robbery of Greek Joseph Andrews for 140 dollars. Parker was shot by a policeman and taken to hospital in dangerous condition. Georgie Holland identified as Holland by officers.
In Dubuque on August 3 local reports say a coadjutor bishop will be appointed for Archbishop Keane. A formal announcement from St. Paul notes rectors will meet August 17 to nominate, with final selection by the Holy See. Archbishop Keane has suffered poor health. Bishop Carroll of Helena is a strong local favorite.

H C Hamilton manager of a saw mill at Flovence four miles north of Omaha was shot at his front door by an unknown assailant. The death occurred August 3 and local authorities are investigating.
Miss Agnes McGuire, a member of a picnic party, was returning on a hayrack when thrown in front of a locomotive at Albin. The train passed over her, cutting off both feet and she died an hour later.
