Fiery West Side residence destroyed by stubborn blaze
The Mia McIntyre home on the West Side near the Preston Parton Milling plant was almost completely burned Saturday afternoon. Firefighters faced water pressure issues from hydrants, with Hose Company No 3 handling the blaze after Hose Company No 1 found its base unable to reach. Rumors tied a boy named Bill Redfield to the fire, but the cause remains unknown. The house, owned by B W Myers family, was nearly emptied as furniture and a piano suffered fire and water damage. The dwelling and contents were insured locally by B B Richards and Ms Myers with McMinnville Mutual. Victims praise local firemen and helpers for heroic efforts.
