Hermiston Election Ends In Court Ruling For Swayze
A Hermiston council election dispute concluded in circuit court with Judge Bean directing a verdict for F. B. Swayze and against J. R. Means. The canvassing board’s defective one vote left 47 apiece, the county board chose Swayze, and the jury upheld that decision. An ensuing council election is planned for December amid lingering tensions.

Claim of Brown in embezzlement case at Garden City plant
Willard Brown, arrested in Pendleton, pleads not guilty to embezzlement from Garden Cuy Packing Co. He accuses Reinhold Harras, plant owner and former Walla Walla resident, as the crooked party. Brown says he was bookkeeper for Harras who dealt wheat shipments from Estopia and Eltopia, with warehouses full and grain piles noted. Separately, H A Richardson of Adams sold Inland Mercantile to Bert Kirby and J L Owens. Richardson may pursue new work elsewhere. An advertising note promotes a tube and a pile remedy sold by Pioneer Drug Store.
