History of Indians Work and Great Curtis Project

An extensive project by Edward S Curtis in Seattle aims to publish a twenty volume history with numerous plates and supplements. Backed by President Roosevelt and John Pierpont Morgan, the venture costs are immense and Morgan funds 25 sets for 750000 to support field work spanning years and a global reach. The piece notes Curtis’s expertise with Indian culture and a Portland stay as he develops the work. Echo Saloon fined for gambling and Sunday openings, plus a local dairy and flower-bed plan by Mr Crisler. Also notices about overdue Cox and McEwen accounts with 8 percent interest after October 1.
