Greffield Woman Poisoned Likely Death By Own Action
Seattle coroners reported arsenic in the stomach of Maud Hart Creffield widow of Edmond Joshua Creffield Holy Relief leader, suggesting murder or death by own action. She was imprisoned with Esther Mitchell, both charged with murder, died suddenly around midnight likely from heart disease. She was O W Hurt of Corvallis daughter and was buried beside her husband. both women had threatened death.

Coal shortage grips Garfield and Palouse country
Garfield and Palouse residents plan to delay the first coal train to Lewiston as only one car has arrived in weeks. Cold weather looms with ice forming and snow, wood rising to eight dollars a cord, nine per ton for coal, and no wood supply in sight. Local dealers say coal orders placed since July remain unfulfilled, risking widespread suffering if relief is not soon found.

A would be assassin group placed dynamite on a Mount Hood Railroad track to derail a passenger train. Cold weather froze the charges, none exploded as the train passed. Twenty sticks were found beside the track. No suspects or motive determined. Hood River Railroad offers a $500 reward.
