The shipment helped lift Inland Empire wheat prices to about 7 cents above the Chicago market. Portland and Puget Sound exports last month totaled over 2 250 000 bushels, with 1 248 110 from Portland and 1 034 508 from Puget Sound.

Duck Season Opens Under Shortened Schedule
The duck season began Monday at noon and will run until December 16, allowing hunters about a month to hunt migratory waterfowl. The opener was shortened by the federal biological survey after breeding grounds showed depleted bird numbers. Local hunting conditions were reported good on opening day.
