Trout Martyred at Marion Jack Place Near Havana Station

Sam Trout, an elderly man about 85 and former employee of A B McEwen, was found dead Sunday evening near the Marion Jack place south of Havana Station. Dr. Smith of Pendleton attributed the death to heart failure, noting the alleged strangling by moles did not normally cause death. Trout was well known in Athens and had just returned from a ball game in Pendleton.

Opinions vary on colt and filly numbers, but continued borrowing across multiple foal crops risks a looming under supply.
