Athena Mercantile Company announces new ladies items including embroidered ginghama fabrics and other popular goods. The notice highlights fresh arrivals for the season aimed at women shoppers and regional clientele.

Milton man dies of pneumonia at 78 leaving widow and three children.Mrs Nellie Rosell and Mrs Ira Berry of Milton and Charles Weight in Louisiana are kin. Mrs T Dickeson dies near Freewater leaving husband and several children. A W S Miser’s 9 year old son dies after smallpox. Ralph Steen, 21, buried at Weston after operation in Walla Walla. May 10 year old daughter of Mrs Farnnie Williams of Milton dies of scarlet fever. mother and younger sister fall ill next day.
At a Methodist church officers meeting Pendleton architect Mr Trouman presented plans for a new building to cost seven thousand dollars, ten thousand more than planned. The design features a 63 by 83 feet layout with stone basement brick upper structure and a seating capacity of about 1,000. The old church will be sold and excavation for the new edifice will begin after disposal.
Five residents of Milton and vicinity died in the past week with causes including pneumonia scarlet fever internal trouble smallpox and consumption. The week saw several deaths Friday morning and the community mourns notable local figures such as W. T. Weight, a wealthy resident.
Pythian Lodge No. 29 hosts an evening program for members and families in the lodge hall next Thursday. Features include welcome, vocal selections by James Boyd Taylor and Smith, phonograph music, and refreshments as the crowd gathers.
