Barrett and Water Commission Vote in City Election

One ticket appeared in the Alboun municipal election Tuesday with 115 ballots cast. E. E B. Koontz won mayor with 113 votes while council contenders Henry Dell 118, W. P. Littlejohn 112, H. L. Watts 110. Victor Burke led for treasurer with 104 and B. B. Richarda for city recorder with 109. Seven write‑in votes went to O. A. Barrett for water commissioner, a post abolished last year. The elected officials are trusted to serve Alboun faithfully.

The Athena Band Concert Plans March 19

The Athena Band announces a concert on Tuesday evening March 19. rehearsals have led to a higher proficiency under Prof. Edgar L. Smith with expectations the open air City Park season will show further improvement.

Local officials file intent to seek re election

County Clerk Frank Saling County Recorder Ben Burroughe County Treasurer George W Bradley County Assessor C P Strain and County School Superintendent Frank K Welles filed declarations of intention to run again Tuesday morning. Circuit Judge G W Phelpa also plans to run, with Secretary of State filing soon. Sheriff T D Taylor remains undeclared as other incumbents seek to extend their terms. Strain and Saling have long tenure, with multiple terms already served.
