Death in Portland of Nettlie Buroker

Nettlie Buroker died Friday afternoon after a long illness from cancer at her daughter Mrs Lloyd Michner’s home in Portland. The body was taken to Athena by Mr and Mrs Michner and another daughter. The funeral was held Saturday at 2 PM in the Christian church with Pastor Burton officiating. Interment followed in Athena Cemetery. She leaves a husband and two daughters Alta Fay Michner and Ore May Burke, both in Portland, and a wide circle of friends who mourn her loss. Nettie Hume, born Urbana Ohio in 1868, married Christ 1869 and lived in Willapa then Athena before moving to Portland about six months ago. She was active in Red Cross work and knitting circle for soldiers. The husband and daughters have community sympathy.
