City council took no action on a petition from property owners requesting Adams street opened from First street west to Hunt avenue. TheNovember filing lists Hunt avenue residents and others. O R and N and W C R & N would be affected. J H Swart stated the railroad would not be arbitrary and asked for benefit details. The issue was deferred likely to the new council. Blakley Brand Law Requires Recording of All Cattle Brands

House bill No. 44 by Rep W M Blakely mandates slaughter businesses keep a daily ledger of cattle numbers classes buyers and brands and require hides with attached ears kept for 80 days. Non slaughters must retain hides for 80 days and may be inspected on demand. Violators face misdemeanor charges with fines or up to one year in jail.

Puyallup Lands Open to Taxable Ownership Now

The Puyallup Indian reservation lands will not be sold further but may be sold lease or taxed like white lands after long delayed authorities in Washington held the March 3 1898 commission expired and all treaty obligations fulfilled. The Puyallup is now a man and a brother and may do as he pleases with his own. Three streetcar companies expect county franchises to the hide flats within a year.
