McRea combines harvesters on display at Peebler & Chamberlain

Alex McRea impressive in jumper and overalls explains two McRae combine harvesters ready for harvest. Machines saw use in Washington wheat districts including Walla Walla near Milton. A third unit due soon. David Ferris and Banister boys linked to harvesting effort. Also reports of homes lost to fire in Sonnell Connell and Weston area. Springs resort at Bingham Springs opens June 15 under James Cornfield with dancing and bathing set.

Reunion of Pioneers and Athena Colt Show Entries Open

The Athena colt show on Saturday June 22 will be judged by George Perringer W P Reeser and Mort McDonald with Charles Norris organizing entries. Classes cover roadsters light harness and draft stock plus foals, two year olds and yearlings. The 12th annual Pioneer reunion at Weston drew about 8000 attendees with picnics games and generous hospitality.

Time card changes shift schedules for U R N trains

A Sunday effective schedule update alters arrival times for U R N trains. Northbound passenger No 8 now arrives at 12 25 pm, Westbound No 7 at 3 40 pm, Westbound mixed No 47 at 12 26 pm, with southbound arrivals at 6 16 pm. Keen Won Horse Race details and grain samples call for decorative use.

Mules Trimmed In Complicated Hoof Surgery at Blacksmith Shop

Twenty two James Bell mules underwent hoof trimming using a hydraulic lifting device and carving bench at Buelaloop with aid from Grandview mayor and mule chiropodist assisted by Frank Bowlen. The process, involving restraints and canvass wrapping, occurs twice yearly in the shop.

Freewater Approves Public Water Franchise at Meeting

The Freewater City council unanimously approved a franchise for a city water system. Engineers Swain and Evans presented the plan to source water 11 miles from the mountains and lay 620 tons of pipe at about $35,000. Construction must begin within 18 months, boosting local real estate values alongside the Walla Walla Valley Traction company influence.

Palouse and Umatilla Lead In Record Wheat Harvest Optimism

Alva Leach of Kerr Gifford predicts Palouse and Umatilla will yield history’s largest wheat crop this year. University of Oregon announces 31st annual commencement

The University of Oregon plans June 25 to 26 commencement with fifty five graduates from across the state. A musical festival featuring Professor Irving M. Glen directing orchestra and chorus will characterize the event. Alumni Week will mark commencement homecoming and a broad musical program across the week.
