Willamette Gravel Pit to Feed Rail Bridge Work

A Eugene crew begins operations at the Willamette Pacific gravel pit near Natron to haul rock from the Upper Willamette to the Lower Siuslaw. German Submarines Sink Two More Vessels Without Warning

German submarines sank two more ships, the British steamer Dixiana and the Danish Soborg, off Ushant and in the English Channel. DePalma Sets New Record in 2004 IeA Race

In a remarkable feat at the Indianapolis motor event on Monday, Inne Ba Palma won the fifth 600 lap in a time of 8 hours 88 minutes and percent of a second. The victor rode an average speed of 80.44 miles per hour and broke the 1914 record set by Renée Thomas. Reata finished second with 6 hours 97 minutes and 4.94 seconds.
