Dunne Halts State Road Program Over Tax Measures
John B. Yeon of the Oregon Good Roads Association reports that the $3 and $5 highway measures will not appear on the November ballot due to lack of signatures. If Dunne’s license cut passes and the gas tax rises, the highway fund faces a net loss near 2 million dollars, forcing a halt in next year’s road program except for maintenance and debt payments.

The piece notes that early World War I German air forces operated with scarce planes and even top ace Manfred von Richthofen shared a single seater with a fellow pilot.
