Tragedy at Wallis Walla Penitentiary Stabbing in Jute Mill
William Harrison alias D C Benson killed fellow convict William Ellis at the Wallis Walla penitentiary during a shift at the jute mill. Ellis died within an hour after a thoracic and abdominal series of wounds. Investigation by Prosectuting Attorney Ormades and state officials continued with many convicts questioned, while officials withheld details.

Frightful Experience at the Hot Springs on the Clearwater
The Moscow Mirror reports three trappers near the hot springs on the Clearwater were found after a fatal expedition. Two died, one survived in a near-extinct state, suffering scurvy and loss of teeth hair eyesight and reason. Bodies were buried and the survivor moved to Missoula.
