Governor accused on floor of trying to sell land to state

On Wednesday on the State Capitol floor Governor Oswald Weat was accused of attempting to dispose of his land to the state via a Capitol grounds extension bill. He denied the charges while committee action split, with Johnson backing a majority report and Huntington urging minority rejection. A Lewiston dispatch notes Dr. John Smyth from Melbourne University visited Lewiston Normal College to study teacher training.

Tohn Smails a respected Walla Walla businessman died Monday night in a San Francisco hospital. He was accompanied by his wife and daughter and had left Oregon for California seeking health benefits.
