New York Banker Proposes Revival Program for 1931
Albert H. Wiggin of Chase National Bank urged a 1931 revival plan at the annual stockholders meeting. He called for lowering the capital gains tax to under 7 percent, using proceeds to reduce debt, easing allied debts, ending price fixing, resisting bank consolidation laws, and modest wage cuts to boost employment and purchasing power. High School Notes Editorial Advocates Boys Club
The Athena high school editorial urges forming a boys club to provide a positive evening gathering space and reduce loafing in town hangouts. A club could aid both students and local merchants by keeping youths away from regular hangouts. It argues the idea would benefit the community and student life. The Girls' League at Athena meets weekly to plan programs and schedule a party next month after deciding not to hold one this month.
