A farm survey set for February 25 to 28 will gather crop, labor, and seed needs from every farmer in Umatilla County. Local committees will collect figures with penalties for noncompliance. M. L. Watts chairs Athena area committee. Pendleton contact numbers 162 and 50.
The Long Beach Prow clipping notes Mia Laura Woodward and her daughter Mlaw Kiva of Watla Walls Washington hosted a winter gathering at 24 Linden Avenue for numerous tourist friends. Attendees included Mr and Mrs En Dudley Mr and Mrs Luther Wilmot and others from Athena Helix Milton and Walla Walla, with a lively evening cited as very pleasant.
The Ellison-White Chautauqua Co. presents a Weston Opera House program on March 3, 4, with strong acts and a lineup among leading entertainers. Season tickets cost 1.50 for adults and 1.00 for students. reserved seats available at Franke Price's office after Saturday, February 10 a.m. Tickets may be secured at Watts & Co. or Weston Mercantile Co.
The Upidee Club will stage a dance at the Athena Opera House on the evening of March 91 to benefit the local Red Cross. Pletcher’s Jazz Orchestra will provide music, admission is $1.00, and net proceeds go to the Red Cross. organizers expect a large attendance.

Ellin Hopper Dan Quinlavin and Claude Baker faced Judge Richard a court this week for disorderly conduct. Quinlavin and Hopper allegedly fired a pistol on the streets at night. Claude supplied the weapon though not present when the shooting occurred. The judge leniently remanded the young Quinlavin to Officer Dobson and placed him in the country. Hopper fled town to avoid a fine, while Quinlavin chose to leave town to dodge a 15 fine. A. Barrett has taken the Nilson tractor agency and Henry Barrett has received one tractor for personal use. The tractor is built in senior and junior sites, selling for 2100 and 1000 dollars respectively, and will pull four 14 inch plows. It will commence work on the ranch near Tow mouth as weather permits.
The county court moved ahead on road improvements by macadam road rolling, but the recent freeze slowed progress. Crews had been making headway with forced labor, working toward Athena near Adare, despite setbacks.
Community fundraising continues with deposits totaling 4000.60 on hand at First National Bank. City Council donated the site at City Park and Tum-a-Lum Lumber provided plans and specs. Work to begin as labor teams and donors become available, with a meeting planned to review the spring plan and timeline.
An interesting Red Cross meeting was held in the Domestic Science room after noon. Members discussed proceeds from donated garments and planned a wool fund with a committee. Several new members joined, including Joe Conn on and Mrs A A Pareis.
John By Mathers will resign after years serving as agent for the Co W. Athens and Wallibusny My. He will join the Preston-Bhatfor Milling company in Athens and Wallibusny My. Temporarily he will oversee a portion at the Athena plant. a relief agent will be found here.
Burke and Son have sold their truck transfer business to Athen Truck Co owned by Sam Hutt and B D Taylor. Burke and Bon will devote their entire time to their automobile and garage business going forward.
National Repair Week, first week in March, urged by government and C. A. Barrett & Co to have farmers inspect machinery and order repair parts early. Emphasizes time is money, transport challenges, and the need to prepare now to ensure parts arrive before the season.
Charley Allard of Montana says Missoula will again host the Stampede exhibition after a year, with Atheia men aiding last year and Montana boys likely to help this year. The Stampede, styled after the Round-Up, is planned for July in Sermon, with locals expressing interest and support despite garbled text from an old journal.
