A wide range of Athena residents are noted visiting Walla Walla Pendleton and Spokane. Many attend dances, church events, and host or join gatherings. Multiple confirmations of illness recovery and spring preparations accompany reports of social calls and local meetings.
James Cresswell and Miss Helen Han are arranging decorations and entertainment in planning for a forthcoming event. Mrs. Henry Barrett assists with the overall arrangements and party planning duties.
Capt. G. L. Hall’s arrival brings larger crowds each Sunday with a sermon on Christian involvement. Special music will accompany both services and the Sunday school reports record attendance. He preached at Adams in the morning and then traveled to Athena, inviting all to worship.
Oregon missionary secretary Mr. C F Swander will address the morning service. He is an old college mate of Mr Sias who expects a large audience. An excellent address is assured with special music and the 10 o'clock Bible school anticipated to draw good attendance.
The Meade Union Evangelists, renowned in the Northwest, will start a two week revival in Athena at the Baptist church on March 3. Sponsored by local Baptist and Christian churches, the event invites all Christian people to participate and support the effort. Also, Eyesight Specialist Dr Dale Rothwell will be at the hotel parlors Monday February 28 for eye examinations offering affordable glasses.
