Representatives from county schools met in Athena Saturday to organize for the Umatilla County Track Meet and Oratorical contest to be held in Pendleton on April 29 1911. Officers elected for the coming year include W G B Martin of Milton as president Principal A Hampton of Pendleton schools as treasurer and Principal M B Pute of Athena as secretary. A J Wagner Dies Suddenly After Horse Accident
Andrew J. Wagner died in the early hours from heart failure after a fall that fractured his hip. He had been recovering when sudden nausea struck, Dr. Sharp arrived too late, and funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 in the Obree tion church. He was born April 14, 1848 in Knox County Ohio and married Louisa Morgan in 1870. He lived in Umatilla county since 1878 with a wife, a daughter, and a son surviving.
