Two British Vessels Sunk Off West Coast of England

A German submarine raid off the west coast of England on Monday sank two British vessels. The Ben Cruachan, a 1978-ton steamer carrying coal from Cardiff to Liverpool, was warned to abandon ship within ten minutes before torpedoes sent it to the bottom. the Linda Blanche, a steam trawler from Manchester to Belfast, was also sunk after divers attacked it with mines as the crew fled to lifeboats. Both crews reached land safely, Ben Cruachan at Fleetwood and Linda Blanche at Liverpool. The Graphic reported the events and that the sub later pursued but the Graphic escaped to Monsey.

Turks Beaten in Snow Storm on Caucasus Front
