Charley Baddeley Dead in Walla Walla Hospital
Charley Baddeley known as Charley to Umatilla and Hastorn Ore people died in a Walla Walla hospital Tuesday morning after several weeks of illness. He formerly lived northeast of Weston on a county ranch and bred trotting stock and rowdators. Survived by three sons. Funeral held Wednesday afternoon, burial beside wife in Weston cemetery. Good Roads meeting in Pendleton discussed county issues with another session planned for December 17 inviting all interested in roads and urging Umatilla delegation attendance.

Hair-raising buggy runaway injures Miss Van Winkle in Athens
In Athens a buggy runaway occurred when Miss Booher drove the team. Miss Van Winkle suffered a concussion and a bruised hip after the buggy overturned near the Baptist church. She was carried to James Henderson's home, regained consciousness, and was later returned home with medical care.

iFred Gross Sr died at age 15 in Athena after a stomach cancer operation performed Wednesday evening. Born in Logan Ohio in 1848 he lived in California then Brownsville before moving to Athena in 1898. Survived by wife, one son, two daughters, and a former wife’s child in Colorado. funeral Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church.
