Escapee Convicts Nabbed in Pendleton Robbery Case

Convict No 1142 Joseph Lawrence and Convict No 1143 of the Idaho penitentiary, who escaped days ago, were captured in Pendleton after a tent robbery. He used the name Blackburn. Marshal Coffman identified him from Idaho description and earns a $50 reward. Lawrence reportedly escaped by breaking through a wall in the county jail yesterday afternoon.

Colorado Cloud Burst Destroys Canyon. Nine Feared Drowned

A cloud burst near Rhode Canyon, between Berwind and Tabasco, Colorado, washed out the railroad bed and wrecked mines and coke ovens. At least nine people are believed drowned. James H J Scott selected as distant principal of the Adame schools, to start with Principal W C Read at the new year. Helin school hires include Charles R Dutro of Idaho as principal and Bertha Schachling of Kanais as primary instructor.
